 Cultivation to Period

 

Hela farming technology is the main focus of cultivation. I know from experience that our elderly farmers still believe that if they grow their crops for long periods of time, they will still work.

You may recall that Hela farmers emphasized that it was nature that taught them to learn farming technology. It is a fact that anyone who has studied the nature of nature can understand that it is not possible to grow any crop at any time of year.
Sun, rain, wind, heat, cold, light, and darkness are the most common causes of the growth of a crop. Some crops prefer sunlight and some prefer shade. Cold-loving crops do not produce results in hot weather. At the same time, the same crop needs growth, sometimes cold and sometimes warm. The need to have a good understanding of the environment and climate is very clear when selecting crops and when to plant them.

Here are some of the most important aspects of seasonal farming technology:


1. Is the nature of farming being paddy? (Under irrigation? From rain?), Other crops? A better understanding of (chena cultivation or vegetable cultivation).
2. What are the environmental requirements of each crop? (Water, warmth, cold, shade, etc.) At what time of growth do the crops want it?
3. Other crops, such as the time of yield of each crop (eg, the time taken to harvest rice, 3, 4 months, 41/2, etc.).
4. Awareness of the reality of the environment, surrounding animals, insects, diseases, and possible diseases.
5. Possibility of an assessment of future weather conditions.
To put it simply, our farmer was motivated to cultivate a healthy crop in order to obtain a good harvest from crops and to cultivate the environment in order to prevent disease and pests.

One of the most important aspects of seasonal cultivation technology is the ability to predict the weather. If the rainy season is known, cultivation can begin without fear and hesitation. The traditional farmer, who had the traditional knowledge and experience, had the right knowledge of the weather and planned the cultivation accordingly. Although there is a certain pattern of the weather, its uncertainty and irregularity greatly influence the farmer's cultivation schedule. If these changes can be foreseen, the farmer can adjust the timetable.

He came to know the weather with a keen eye for environmental factors. He was able to draw conclusions about rainfall by observing the flowering of the trees, the behavior of the animals, the direction of the wind, the shape of the clouds. Weather forecasting was a unique science for the farmer.

The farmer knew that roasting the palms of the palms and the crying of the chickens in the morning were signs before a rain. Important not only is the rainfall, but also information on the intensity, extent, extent, and pattern of rainfall. Importantly, the farmer must have the sensitivity to detect these phenomena.

Let us look at some examples of how this information is important to the farmer.


Modern scientific research shows that the growth of pest insects affecting paddy cultivation increases with cold weather. With the increase in temperature, there is a reduction in insect eclipse. The increase in insect eclipse is evident with the rains.

This knowledge was very deep for the Hela farmer and he practiced it. Unlike modern farming, the Hela peasantry maintains a wide variety of crops and plants, but in the rain, the growing insects are naturally in control. When the rains are severe at the end of the rain, the insect pests begin to dwindle, causing harm to the crops. If harvesting can be done at this time, the risk of pest damage is high.

In order to make the harvesting process optimal, shouldn't the farmer plan ahead and plan for his sowing and planting?

Let us take another example to make that point clear:


After much research, modern science claims that there is a direct relationship between the temperature and the yield of the environment. They say that if the temperature was increased by one degree at the time of harvest, the yield of paddy could be as low as 16 percent (16 percent). The most sensitive point to the harvest is the pressure from the bundle of the harvest, to the extent that the yield is severely affected. The coldest time in our country is from late December to mid-February. This is the coldest time, especially at night.

Now you need to understand why the Hela farmer decided to cultivate binary black, haram paddy, and vap black for three months. Therefore, the harvest takes place in mid-January. Harvesting conditions are best when there are favorable environmental conditions.

Nowadays the modern farmer harvests the crop in late December or January, when the temperature of the night is high in Sri Lanka. This is not surprising as all the pests are affected not only by decreasing yields.

This is how the cultivation technology of the Hela Farmer is cultivated.


This is not limited to paddy cultivation. As far as chena cultivation is concerned, it depends entirely on the farmer's understanding of rainfall patterns.
The cultivation of Kalyal is more complicated than the brief explanations I mentioned above. It is a deep discipline that needs to be looked into further. That knowledge is often in the hands of experienced farmers around you.

I have applied the above examples to the experience of farming in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. It is best to share the knowledge with experienced farmers in your area and make a timeline of farming suitable for your area as there are climate variations depending on where you grow.

It is true that some of the rainfall changes have been caused by current phenomena such as global warming and climate change. We should not forget that these changes were largely due to the undesirable effects of modern agriculture. It may also be true that the technology used by Hela Gevaya a few decades ago cannot be applied in the same way. But despite the changing environment, we need to be able to understand and apply the most advanced technologies like cultivation.

We need to understand the value of cultivating agriculture when it comes to making agriculture a virtuous occupation. Instead of killing insects, it is a scientific approach to pest control and augmenting of pests by understanding nature.
